Food Chemistry and Toxicology
The section of Food Chemistry and Toxicology qualify students in the diploma degree course "Food Chemistry" and students in chemistry with their main subject in "Life Science in Chemistry". Lectures and program are described in detail in the respective course plan. The small number of students (max. 20 per semester) enable an intensive and individual mentoring with special regard to practical and vocational training. In addition to classical courses in food chemistry, the education on Food Chemistry at the Technical University of Kaiserlautern is further focused on toxicology, nutrition science and risk/benefit evaluation of food products, food constituents and contaminants. In practical trainings the students have the oppertunity to work with modern instruments and to learn novel methods in the research fields of food chemistry, toxicology or food safety.
